Monasteries of the Heart

Friday Morning

Call to Prayer
I reverence God
whose kindness is renewed each day.

May your love and faithfulness
protect me, O god,
so that I might always praise you.

Psalm 101
A song of justice and kindness
I sing to you, O God.
I shall walk in the way of integrity.
When, O God, will you come?

I shall walk with blameless heart
within my house;
I shall not set before my eyes
whatever is unjust.

I shall hate the ways of the oppressors;
they shall not be my friends.
The false-hearted must keep far away;
I shall walk the path of justice.

Those who slander their neighbors
will be silenced.
Proud hearts and haughty looks
will never endure.

I look to the faithful in the land
that they may dwell with me.
Those who walk in the way of integrity
shall be welcomed.

No one who practices deceit,
no one who utters lies
shall live within my house.

Each morning I have resolved
that all the wicked in the land
shall be uprooted.
Justice and kindness shall prevail.

Your thoughts should be wholly directed to all that is true, all that deserves respect, all that is honest, pure, admirable, decent, virtuous, or worthy of praise. Live according to what you have learned and accepted, what you have heard me say and seen me do. Then will the God of peace be with you. (Philippians 4:8-9)

As God’s Word unfolds
it gives encouragement.

God, there is no just and saving God but you. Be with those who walk in your ways.
