Traditionally, the Church prays the O Antiphons for seven days from December 17 through December 23. The themes of the O Antiphons, however, resound in the whole season of Advent and in the heart of every monastic.
This Advent eRetreat is designed to uncover the truths and wisdom within Advent’s journey of waiting and longing for the reign of God, a sacred time in the steady search for deeper spiritual wisdom.
The eRetreat is built around an ONLINE RETREAT DAY ON Zoom, Saturday, December 11, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The retreat day includes time for presentations, small group shared reflection and solitude for personal reflection.
All registrants will receive an email with the zoom link and retreat information on Friday, Dec 10 at 2pm ET, and another email with the link and information on Saturday, Dec 11 at 10am ET. All registrants will also receive a video recording of the retreat afterward.
Then, a follow up resource will be sent to all participants to guide them in observance of O Antiphons from December 17 through December 23, with a prayer and reflection shared each day, in harmony with the Church who will be praying these particular Antiphons.
Mary Ellen Plumb, OSB, and Katie Gordon, Monasteries of the Heart staff members, will co-facilitate this experience from their own appreciation of the wisdom and grace of the O Antiphons and their shared conviction that the insights born of solitude and honest, soul-deep reflection can provide a communal experience of spiritual nourishment.
