Prayer is the cornerstone of Benedictine life–but what does it really mean to pray? What should we bring to prayer, and what might we expect to gain from praying?
For years, spiritual directors have suggested that seekers consult Joan Chittister’s book Breath of the Soul: Reflections on Prayer, for enlightening and challenging reflections for an adult prayer life. Topics include prayer routines and when to abandon them, prayer that transforms, and what it means to offer a prayer of blessing.
Now, several of these reflections are available in a new Monasteries of the Heart eCourse that begins February 18. In this eCourse, Sister Joan’s reflections will be paired with Scripture passages, insights from saints and mystics, and prompts for creative activities designed to deepen and enrich your own prayer life.
Sister Anne McCarthy and Oblate Jacqueline Small, Monasteries of the Heart staff members, will facilitate this eCourse. During the three-week course, you will receive emails each Monday, Wednesday and Friday alerting you to new content. A private sharing forum will allow for the interaction of all participants.
Special perk: when you register for this eCourse, you will receive a $2.00 off coupon for the Breath of the Soul book. (The book is not required for the course.)
Course runs February 18 – March 8. You will have access to all course content through August 2019.
